Melness
Guest House and the adjoining property, No. 6, were originally built
in 1868 as a mission hall. It was designed to look like 2 houses from
the front, with living quarters downstairs and the mission hall itself
upstairs. It remained like that until 1900 when surplus to requirement
the church sold the property. The building then become "Craigneish School For Young Ladies" and remained as such until about 1923 when it was divided into 2 houses. No 6 has retained the name 'Craigneish' until this day. Melness still has the original ornate plaster ceiling and a Minster stone carved fireplace in the resident's lounge/dining room. Relax in Melness's comfortable surroundings and enjoy our high level of customer service. |
